Eid Ul Adha Celebration and Eid prayers:

Eid ul Adha celebration begins by after the sun sets on 9th of Dhul Hijjah. People wore nice and clean clothes and kept themselves clean and tidy. Eid prayer can be performed any time after the sunrises on the 10th of Dhul Hijjah. But make sure to pray before the Zuhr prayer. All the men and even some women give to mosques to perform Eid prayers. It is not a farz prayer (the prayer that you must have to perform in any circumstances). In case of natural disaster or any kind of calamity, you can postpone it to the next day that is 11th of Dhul Hijjah or even to 12th of the month.


Eid prayers must be performed in the audience. Participation of women varies from community to community. It is only two Rak’at namaz that contain seven Takbirs in first Rak’at and five Takbirs in second Rak’at. This prayer does not have any Adhan or iqama. Namaz is then followed by the Kutba or sermon by the Imam.

Worshipers go for Eid prayer by chanting the takbir out loud on their way to the mosque on the first day of Eid Ul Adha. And then throughout the three days of the Eid ul Adha celebration. It is considered to be an essential part of the Eid celebration.

Slaughtering of Animals:
Slaughtering of animal is the essential part of the Eid ul Adha celebration. Muslims sacrifices animal in the memory of the sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim. When Hazrat Ibrahim bow to the will of Allah and ready to sacrifice his only Son. Anyone who can afford must slaughter an animal. The animal has to be healthy and must be a Halal animal. The sacrifice of an animal is known as Qurbani. The animal purchased for sacrifice is known as udhiya, usually a goat or sheep.

Distribution of Meat:

The meat of the slaughtered animal must be divided into three parts. One part is for yourself and for your family, the second part is for relatives while the last part is to distribute among poor and needy people. Each part carries an equal amount of meat. It tells us to remember those who are poor and needy and to make them the part of your happiness and celebration.

Meet and Greet with Friends and Family to Celebrate Eid Ul Adha:

Eid ul Adha celebration is incomplete without greetings with family. As it is an Eid full of meat people usually arranges barbecue parties. People generally exchange gifts or money with their friends and family.
Public Holiday for Eid Ul Adha Celebration
On the occasion of Eid ul Adha celebration, there is a public holiday in all the Muslim countries. Whereas in non-Muslim countries there is no holiday.
